Great value! Great service! Spacious. Very diverse clientele. The buffet was delish at a good price. Family of five on our way to Caverns!

Great menu, excellent food and very decent prices. But the best part was our server. Unfortunately, I don't remember her name and the receipt only says server #10. We visited the caverns as a combined birthday trip for my partner and me. We just wanted to grab a quick bite on the way out of town. I had a present for my partner. The server immediately asked in a cheerful mood what we are celebrating and chatted with us, learning our names. When we were done with the meal , we got a delicious desert on the house (frozen ice cream, first for both of us) and a birthday song. I know some restaurants do this upon request but I have never experienced a server taking the initiative and be so cheerful to provide this surprise. Our quick bite to eat turned into a real celebration. We are planning several trips with friends to go on the various tours at the Caverns. A stop at El Jimador for dinner will be a routine stop in Carlsbad for our family. I also have several friends who have asked me to let them know if I find a good place since they are planning trips ... I will be happy to recommend El Jimador to them. Thank you for a great and friendly birthday surprise!

The food is very good but the service is poor. The corn tortillas are very hard and are difficult to chew. The music brings a nice authentic feel and the building is in very good shape.

Very good, parking was limited but the house was full. A little bit of a wait but they were busy and the food was worth it. Bravo....well done!

Very tasty, authentic food. Casual and comfortable environment with Mexican flair. Young, Latino serving staff all dressed tastefully in red restaurant t-shirts and black pants with comfy shoes - sensible! Best Marguerites!
